You need to be fit and healthy to undertake most treks. Treks must along recognised routes and on an organised tour. We do not provide cover for the cost of search and rescue, which is usually provided by the tour operator.
Under 2,000 metres - worldwide ??� included on organised tour on recognised routes, no additional charge. (No search & rescue) Certain treks in Peru and Himalayas up to 4000 metres are acceptable within Level 1. Please refer to our Trekking Grades below. 2,000 - 4,000 metres - Peru & Himalayas (not including demanding or strenuous grade treks and subject to no pre existing medical conditions) included without additional charge, other terms and conditions included within the wording still apply. Please refer to our Trekking Grades below. 2,000 - 4,000 metres - rest of world (not including demanding or strenuous grade treks and subject to no pre existing medical conditions) included only within level 3 activities at an extra of ??35, other terms and conditions included within the wording still apply. Please refer to our Trekking Grades below. Over 4000 metres or demanding or strenuous grade treks. (Must be referred) We will give individual consideration for these treks upon receipt of full details which should include information about your previous experience and level of fitness. Trekking Grades Easy: These treks are especially meant for the first timers as well as those travelling with children or seniors. You won't be walking more than 5-6 hours each day and the trails do not exceed 2000 Metres. in height. Moderate: The trails on these treks do not exceed 4000 Metres. in height. Walk will be somewhere between 6-7 hours a day and can be undertaken if in good physical condition. Demanding: Trips operating in remote areas and in altitude more than 5000 Metres. You need to be in very good shape and physically fit. You will have some really arduous days on the trail. Physical preparation beforehand is very necessary. Strenuous - The most difficult treks, involving many long days, often in isolated areas and usually at extreme altitudes of up to 6,000metres. These treks might also include difficult pass crossings, use of ropes and require basic mountaineering skills and equipment. A high level of fitness and previous trekking experience is essential.
